Lori Smerilson Carson

I started writing at the end of 10th grade when I was placed on my high school newspaper as a writer. By the time I reached my senior year, I was made News Editor. After graduating from UCF with a bachelor’s degree in Journalism, I started my career as a staff writer for a local Central Florida music magazine. I then moved to New York City where I freelanced for Hit Parader and Circus Magazines before becoming a staff writer for Faces Rocks Magazine and their sister magazine Metal Muscle.

After relocating back to Florida, marrying and having children, I contributed to a magazine in the Clearwater area, local school media, as well as writing all press releases for our area high school robotics team. Then we relocated to South Florida and I was recruited to write for SFL Music Magazine in 2018, and then was promoted to Senior Editor in 2019. I also concurrently wrote and was Senior Editor for Ohio Music Experience which was Sean McCloskey’s magazine. With my next relocation (per hubby) up to Pittsburgh, Sean started Pittsburgh Music Experience to mirror his Ohio Music Experience and gave me the privilege of being the Editor in Chief. Since his retirement, I am grateful to continue as Senior Editor of SFL Magazine, conducting interviews and writing articles for publishers Jay Skolnick and his brothers Gary Skolnick and Brad Stevens. I truly enjoy working with them, and all my co-partners at SFL Music.
