South Florida local reggae-rock band, Vibes Farm, brought me along on their latest mini-tour run to Florida’s Sun Coast to try my hand in photography for the band on the last weekend of July. This was my first ever request to join a professional band and provide both picture and video photography for every show. Photos shown in this piece are just a small few of the dozens of edited shots I captured, showcasing the trio’s signature Rock ‘n’ Reggae style.

VF front-man Tyler Giddens spearheads the current three-piece on lead guitar and vocals, striking a phenomenal presence with each performance by providing every audience with the perfect amount of reggae vibes, mixed with an onslaught of deadly guitar shredding…all variables paralleled by his powerful vocal singing range. Joined by Ryan Jackola, who’s a menace of his own-right on bass, never ceases to add consistent flairs and finesse as his fingers fly across the entirety of whatever instrument he commands (including guitar and harmonica solos). Brian Goff (veteran of band Scholar’s Word and the Space Coast local music scene), their newest addition from Daytona Beach, completes the set on rhythm, keeping the beat and losing himself in the pearly-white drum set he melds into, bringing the trio full-circle in a symbiotic stupor of stirring musical talent.

We began the quick 3-day tour off of Fort Myers Beach, where I swiftly snapped some beach shots before arriving to Point Ybel Brewing Company, a quaint microbrewery with excellent brews and vibes. The boys blew the roof off whilst I and Tyler’s father, Troy Giddens (Superfandad Promotions) snapped some shots and videotaped, and Tyler’s mother Jennifer sold some merch (apparel in which I myself printed for them through Tees For Humanity (enter shameless plug here)). Next day, we headed up to Pinellas County to play at the Sweetwater Brewery-themed Bar Fly in Safety Harbor, and stopped at a local coffee shop/mini-skate park called “Ride Nature” to capture some live skate shots of Tyler shredding the street course and half-pipe. At Bar Fly the boys performed in the cool A/C and had members of the audience of all ages dancing and rocking out as they serenaded crowd with their combo of mellow and rock ‘n’ roll reggae vibes. On the final day Sunday, we traveled to the other Bar Fly location in Palm Harbor, a beachy-themed outdoor venue where before their set, the boys were interviewed by west coast locals for the “Pineapple-Cast.” They finished off the tour in a blazing fire of heat and smoke in 90-plus degree weather and just completely blew everyone away with their nonstop tempestuous performance.

Look out for Vibes Farm on the rise as they evolve from performing not just “In The Clouds” but climbing higher “Above The Clouds”…! You can catch them frequently at both east-coast Square Groupers’, some Propaganda Lake Worth Reggae Nights, and in upcoming festivals like Florida SunFusion Music & Arts Festival and CannaFest 2021.
