By Chris Schmitt | Photos: Chris Schmitt Try to Imagine what a 14 year old Bob Weir was thinking on that fateful day, sitting at the kitchen table with his mother and Jerry Garcia, asking for permission to venture out on his first tour with the Grateful Dead and what an impact he would have on music and the millions of fans all over the world, Starting what would be known as the premier Jam Band in the world. Walking out to a standing ovation and never-ending round of applause, to a packed house at Broward Center for the performing arts: Bob Weir & Wolf Bros delivered a memorable performance. The evening began with “The Music Never Stopped,” setting an energetic tone that resonated throughout the venue. The first set featured a diverse selection, including covers of Bob Dylan’s “When I Paint My Masterpiece” and Johnny Cash’s “Big River,” as well as Grateful Dead classics like “Jack Straw” and “Tennessee Jed.” There wasn’t an open inch in the isles to move unless you were up and dancing with the band. The second set showcased the band’s improvisational prowess, highlighted by a seamless transition from “China Cat Sunflower” into “I Know You Rider,” much to the delight of the audience. The ensemble’s chemistry was evident, with each member contributing to the rich tapestry of sound that filled the hall. The night concluded with a heartfelt rendition of Bob Dylan’s “Knockin’ on Heaven’s Door,” leaving the crowd in appreciative silence before erupting into applause. Share It!
